Orange Beach, AL — January 9, 2026 — Kelly Cantrell, owner and speech-language pathologist of Empowered Speech Pathology, recently spoke to a highly engaged and enthusiastic group at the Orange Beach Senior Center on Friday, January 9, 2026. The presentation focused on the importance of cognitive health and highlighted fun, practical activities seniors can use to stimulate the brain and support lifelong mental wellness.
Attendance for the event was excell was strong, with participants actively involved throughout the presentation. The group asked thoughtful questions, shared personal experiences, and contributed meaningful input, creating a lively and interactive discussion centered on maintaining cognitive strength through everyday activities. Cantrell emphasized that brain health does not have to feel clinical or intimidating. Instead, she encouraged incorporating enjoyable strategies such as reading, games, social interaction, learning new skills, and structured routines that challenge thinking,
memory, and problem-solving in positive ways. “The level of engagement and curiosity from the Orange Beach Senior Center group was outstanding,” said Cantrell. “It’s clear this community values staying active—both mentally and socially—and that makes a powerful difference in overall health and
