Empowered Speech Pathology offers treatment for neurological communication, memory and swallowing issues
A new speech pathology clinic is now open in Foley, offering much-needed care for adults across Baldwin County facing neurological communication and swallowing disorders.
Empowered Speech Pathology, a private practice led by licensed Speech-Language Pathologist Kelly Cantrell, specializes in evidence-based therapy for individuals navigating conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, ALS and other neurodegenerative disorders according to a news release. The clinic also treats aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication impairments, swallowing issues, voice disorders and patients with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) needs.
Cantrell, who has more than 32 years of experience in the field, said raising awareness about the wide range of conditions speech-language pathologists treat is vital in communities like Baldwin County, where senior populations continue to grow.
“I’ve had the privilege of talking with several Baldwin County groups including the Parkinson’s Association of Alabama and several senior centers in Baldwin County including Robertsdale and Orange Beach,” Cantrell said.
According to Cantrell, she was scheduled to speak to seniors in Orange Beach on July 21 about memory and healthy aging and will meet with Baldwin County’s ALS support group in August.
While many speech therapy clinics focus on children, Empowered Speech Pathology is one of only a few practices in the region exclusively treating adults according to Cantrell. The clinic aims to expand access and awareness of adult speech-language services, particularly for those with acquired or progressive neurological conditions.
Empowered Speech Pathology is located in Foley and serves patients throughout the county. For more information, visit www.empoweredspeechpathology.com or call (251) 525-6693.
